CORRECT: "Money is important in politics."

INCORRECT: "Money is important on politics."

Why?

The word on would show something is on top of something else. It is an antonym of under, below, or beneath.

The word in can be used to show inclusion within something abstract or non-material.

In this case, the word in shows that money is included in politics. In other words, money is a part of politics.
